Our client for our first project was Enjoy Today, which is ‘the consortium that manages all food, hospitality, and horeca in the campuses of HvA and UvA.’ Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our client’s revenue has suffered dramatic losses since the first lockdown took place in March. They asked us to create a solution that would help bring students and staff back to their food facilities and thus re-build the Enjoy Today weakened community.
After deconstructing our takeaways, we prioritized what we understood to be Enjoy Today’s most urgent priorities.
We then discussed our conclusions with the client, who confirmed that focusing on increasing revenue was the most important issue.
We began by writing down and deconstructing our takeaways from the brief because we wanted to understand what our client’s mission and priorities were.
Once we got the client’s confirmation of our understandings, we began ideating on possible solutions.
We wanted to understand our target audience, so we started user research. We distributed a survey, interviewed potential users and observed one of Enjoy Today’s canteens via a ‘fly-on-the-wall method. We asked survey-takers to rank a few how they liked some of our ideas on a scale of 1-5.
After receiving enough data and answers to make us feel like we had a good understanding of our target users’ wants, needs, and complaints, we examined our most successful ideas based on the test results. We then compiled them into one ultimate solution;
An app where a user can pre-order a box to pick up at a designated location.
I led the group in a MoSCoW exercise to help my group organize and prioritize features in our app from most important to least.
We then created an empathy map to identify where current problems lie and design opportunities that our app could address and solve.
We also created a user persona based on our ideal target audience. Meet Oliver.
Another group member and I ideated a ‘happy path’ customer journey to demonstrate how Oliver would use our product successfully from start to finish.
Based on the most important features my group identified in the MOSCOW exercise and evaluation of our ‘happy path,’ we began to create a wireframe prototype that demonstrated the most pertinent screens and features.
That same day, my group set out to test both our wireframe prototypes and box mock-ups.
Lastly, we transformed our wireframe model into a high-resolution prototype to present to the class and Enjoy Today. Jim K. and Jessica assumed this project.
